LMS Jubilee A4 Pacific
Former LMS Railway's Jubilee Class locomotive 45596 'Bahamas' is photographed on departure from Hereford in March 1994, with a steam charter heading for south Wales. An immaculate A4 Pacific class locomotive 'Union of South Africa' passes Virginia Water station, Surrey with a Venice Simplon Orient Express steam charter on Saturday 2nd October 2004.
 
KWVR Standard 4 MNR Class 50
BR Standard 4 Class locomotive 80002 is seen running around at Keighley Station, West Yorkshire, with an afternoon service to Oxenhope on 25th August 2003. This locomotive has been resident at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway for a number of years. 50019 is photographed in sidings outside Dereham station on the Mid Norfolk Railway on 31st October 2004, in Large Logo BR Blue livery.
 
Mid Norfolk Class 31 Mid Norfolk Chopper
The immaculate 31235 stands in the platform at Dereham station on the Mid Norfolk Railway on 31st October 2004. Another locomotive now resident at the MNR is 20069, seen here stabled outside Dereham station on 31st October 2004 in BR Blue livery.
 
InterCity APT
An example of the ill-fated 'Advanced Passenger Train' project of the early 1980s is preserved at the Railway Age museum adjacent to Crewe Station in Cheshire. These two pictures were taken on 16th January 2005 and show the front end of unit 370006, which was undergoing refurbishment by the museum.
 
West Yorkshire Nodding Donkey Mid Norfolk Class 101
As well as preserved locomotives, the Mid Norfolk Railway also has a small number of railcars, among them this former West Yorkshire PTE Nodding Donkey unit 141108, awaiting restoration. Photographed on 31st October 2004 at Wymondham Abbey station, at the southern terminus of the Mid Norfolk Railway, three car Class 101 DMU L836 awaits to depart for Dereham.
 
Island Terrier 0-4-0ST Invincible
Now preserved at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, Terrier class locomotive 'Freshwater' is seen at Havenstreet on 11th September 2004. This loco was formerly employed on the Havant to Hayling Island branch line in Hampshire and known as the 'Hayling Billy'. Former Woolwich Arsenal Railway resident 'Invincible' is seen stabled at Havenstreet engineer sheds on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway on 11th September 2004, having been restored to traffic in 2001.
 
0-6-0ST Royal Engineer Mid Hants Bubble Car
Built for the MoD in 1953, WD198 was finally retired by the Army at Bicester in 1991. She now works on the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, and is seen here at Smallbrook Junction on 11th September 2004. Single car DMU 55003 is seen in platform 3 at Alton station, on the Mid Hants Railway on 12th February 2005, ready to depart with the 12.50 to Alresford.
 
Watercress Steamers
BR Standard 5 locomotive 73096 is seen in the left-hand picture at Alresford on the Mid Hants Railway on 12th February 2005, awaiting departure as the 15.00 service to Alton. This photograph shows 73096 paused at Ropley to pick up passengers for the final return trip of the day.
 
Hythe Pier Railway West Highland Kettle
The oldest operating pier railway in the world can be found at Hythe, Hampshire. The 'Brush' locomotive was originally employed at a First World War mustard gas factory in Avonmouth. Battery power has since been replaced with a 110V DC third rail supply. 1949 Glasgow-built K1 2-6-0 locomotive 62005 'Lord of the Isles' is seen here at Fort William on 21st June 2005 after arriving with the West Coast Railways operated 'Jacobite' steam train from Mallaig.
 
Strathspey Steamer Swanage Railway Chopper
Standard 4 locomotive 80105 awaits to depart from Platform 3 at Aviemore, with the 'Strathspey Highlander' to Granton-on-Spey on the evening of 15th June 2005. Currently undergoing restoration in the Swanage Railway's sidings at Norden is this former BR Class 20 locomotive D8188, photographed on 13th November 2005.
 
Swanage Cromptons
The Swanage Railway runs from Norden to the Dorset resort of Swanage, located on the picturesque Isle of Purbeck.
These two pictures show the two examples of Class 33 diesel locomotives that are presently based at the railway.
D6515 is pictured at the terminus of Swanage on 13th November 2005. 33108 is the second of the Cromptons to be found on the Swanage Railway and is also seen here at the terminus.
 
Swanage Railway West Country Lymington Heritage Line
West Country class Pacific 34028 is seen crossing the viaduct on approach to Corfe Castle station on the Swanage Railway on 13th November 2005, with a mid afternoon service to Swanage. This photograph shows former 'greyhound' unit 421498 (and now carrying S76844) in a shortened three-car formation, in Southern Railways green livery, awaiting departure from Brockenhurst on 7th October 2006 with the 11:29 service to Lymington Pier.
 
Hunslet MOD loco  
Now part of a permanent exhibition at the Explosion! Museum of Naval Firepower in Gosport, Hampshire, this narrow-guage Hunslet locomotive is one of many that once worked at the former armaments depot at Priddy's Hard, where this photo was taken on 31st January 2007.
